Jesus isn’t asking us to move mountains, He’s asking us to put our faith into action and to show some basic mercy and kindness in simple ways to folks that need help!   And that’s exactly who we need here in New Orleans! People looking to put their faith into action! We have meaningful work opportunities lined up for people of all backgrounds and skill levels that truly help people in need.   At Camp Restore we are able to house over 100 volunteers at a time and provide housing, food, equipment and project management for both construction and non-constructionrestoration activities.   Join us June 5th-11th to travel to New Orleans to help those still in need. At the start of Summer 2010 a group of 12 women from Cross of Christ joined with Thrivent Builds Project for Habitat for Humanity to start assembling the framework of the house that they would see to completion this month.   Little did they know they were creating lasting friendships along the way. Heather Turner (homeowner), Jim Strickland (construction manager) & Jillian Vanselow (CoC Care Team Leader) were quite the team when it came to drywall.   Over the last 6 months Ottis Smith, (Financial Advisor with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans) invited and volunteered alongside over 30 volunteers from Cross of Christ. 80% of the work on this home was done by the sweat and elbow grease of volunteers like them. Even the youngest of Cross of Christ learn generosity through our monthly service projects. At November's Easy Out over 150 sack lunches, 150 toiletry bags and 200 blankets were given to homeless people in downtown Phoenix. Through these items and the participant's generosity, hope was also given. Maybe more importantly, our own hearts were changed through this experience. As one of our confirmation students, Madison Tufte expressed, "it was freaky when we first got out of our cars and all these people started appearing from out of nowhere. At first it was scary. The longer we were there the easier it was. If I went back again I wouldn't be afraid because I know that we are really helping people who need it."... More

Place these children in our community and they would thrive. The country these children live in place the odds of them thriving against them. In a country of 1.1 billion people, they are very small. Stack that up against extreme poverty, putrid un-cleanliness and sickness, political corruption and unbalanced social standards, these children are void of hope. November 19th 8:00-10:30pm Middle Schoolers $5.00   Amped Up is really amping up this month!   You won’t want to miss this.  We have two very special events taking place on Friday November 19th in addition to our regular good-time fun.   First, a professional choreographer is coming to teach us a dance that will be performed at the November 20th Holiday Tree Lighting at the Outlets at Anthem.  This dance is part of a flash mob to Usher’s new song “Just Dance”.  (A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act then disperse.)  The large group will consist of around 500 people performing for about 10,000 people in attendance for the tree lighting ceremony.  Further instructions will be given on Friday the 19th.  To participate you must attend the rehearsal at Amped Up Friday night 9:00-10:00pm in the SMC and then be at the Christmas Tree courtyard from 4:00-6:30pm.   Second, we are bringing back the...
