ON THE TOWNE COMMUNITY THEATRE

2011-08-11 | On the Towne Theatre | Youth

“Every year it is becoming increasingly more difficult to select fresh new shows for our next season,” states On the Towne Community Theatre’s Artistic Director, Paul Towne. “With a number of theater companies in Anthem doing children’s productions and a limited number of “name” youth shows, it is very hard not to be redundant. Every year I try to do a least one show from one of the smaller publishing houses. Last year we did two of these productions and they turned out to be huge successes and favorites of our casts and audiences! This season I have chosen all of our shows from the smaller publishing houses - all of which have great dialogue and wonderful music!”   On the Towne is Anthem’s only no-cut, no-audition children’s theater and accepts children ages five through fourteen. Participants will discover the joys of performing while learning important aspects of theatre; including, but not limited to, vocalization, dance, character development, stage presence,... More

Next, they land on “The Planet of the Apes.” Here they barely escape with their lives by performing “The Monkees” theme song. After their escape from the planet of apes, they find themselves on a planet inhabited by robots! They are relieved to find that the robots are descendents of the “Robot” from “Lost in Space.” Our explorers are thrilled to join the robots in... More

CLASSES START NOVEMBER 2ND

2010-10-25 | On the Towne Theatre | Youth

“On the Towne Community Theatre” is excited to announce its first production for both adults and children! Explains Artistic Director Paul Towne, “For the past three years we have been concentrating on being a no cut, no audition, children’s teaching theatre. Our next show, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, is the perfect vehicle to allow us to cast adults along side our children. This non-musical is a hilarious Christmas tale. A couple struggles to put on a church Christmas pageant, but is faced with casting the Herdman kids – probably the most inventively awful kids in history. The beauty of this show is although it calls for ten adult cast members (four men, six women) the majority of the adult parts is small and won’t require a huge time commitment. There is also an unlimited amount of children’s parts.   Even though we are adding adults to the mix, our children’s... More
