Run for the Thirsty
Saturday 5.7.2011 @ 6:15am | Amanda Christmann Larson | Inspiration
Venue: Reach 11 Sports Complex, Deer Valley Rd. and Cave Creek Rd.
I know you've been meaning to sign up for Run for the Thirsty, so I just wanted to give you the opportunity while you're on your computer and all.
The first annual Run for the Thirsty is being held at the Reach 11 Sports Complex at the intersection of Deer Valley Rd. and Cave Creek Rd. in north Phoenix. It's a 10K, 5K and, for those of you like me whose tennies are collecting dust, a one-mile fun walk. All proceeds go to benefit Water for Our World and their local outreach partners, Salvation Army Project HOPE and St. Mary's Food Bank. You'll be providing drinking water for homeless, homebound eldery and disabled folks, and near-homeless people right here in Phoenix during the hottest time of the year.
If fresh air, sunshine and shakin' your tail feathers aren't enough for you, there are other perks, too. You get a free super-awesome t-shirt (really - no cheesy tees here), and the first 1,000 registrants get a free pass to Wet'n'Wild water park, a $35 value! Not bad for $20-$30 registration (depending on how far you want to go).
Registration starts at 6:15am, and races start at 7:15am. You don't want to wait until then to register, though. Go online right now and visit THIS PAGE RIGHT HERE.
Also, bring a case of water bottles and earn a free raffle ticket for some really super cool prizes! Afterwards, there will be great live bands and lot of fun other stuff to enjoy! What better way to spend a Saturday?!?
See you there!!!
